If you take all of Cousin David’s status updates and combine them, you get one great song. (pardon his language) (Taken with instagram)
A lot is happening, at least to the people around me. I feel like the lives around me are making leaps and bounds and it makes me a little motion sick at times. Change is such a strange thing. It’s inevitable, of course, and it’s as though we are constantly praying for more of it, but I still can’t seem to get the hang of it. It’s frustrating and scary, but good nonetheless. Also, I just got emotional about the dumbest show in the world - Heart of Dixie. Rachel Bilson’s character has been flirt-fighting with prideful Wade all season long! But she claims to love golden boy, George, who (spoiler alert to anyone else who watches this terrible show) decides he loves her too ON HIS WEDDING DAY! I swear. That dumb show is gonna be the death of me. She better choose Wade next season. I mean wouldn’t you want to fight with someone interesting rather than have a long life of boring with someone ‘nice’? I don’t know, maybe I should stop having realistic expectations for such a soap opera show! Come on, Chas. You’re better that that. (No I’m not. When does Downton Abbey return again?!)

After hearing Michel (from Gilmore Girls) diagnose himself with ennui – a metaphysical angst, I’ve decided I have been stricken by it as well. Everything seems to have a certain gloom to it lately. It’s weird too because ‘melancholy’ sounds like a perfectly happy word.
My co-worker told me that her daughter is currently stationed in Romania right now. She’s been doing that world race thing where a group of people visit eleven or twelve countries in a year. My co-worker shared with me her concern for her daughter being around all of the gypsies and thieves. It seemed so cliché, but then she told me there was also a camp of witches pretty close to her daughter’s room, and it sparked my interest even more. There is a documentary called “When the Road Bends: Tales of a Gypsy Caravan” that I’ve always wanted to watch. I think Johnny Depp narrates some of it and maybe travels with some gypsy musicians. And I’d pretty much watch anything he has narrated. His voice is so soothing and confident!
I’m pretty excited about the arrival of summer. If only it didn’t bring triple digit weather with it. The weekends are already filling up fast with activities. The idea of a sunburn along with the exhaustion of floating on a cold river all day sounds pretty exciting right about now. I’m also ready for cookouts, fireworks, shaved ice, and watermelon! My tomato plant seems to be on strike. It’s been a few weeks now of watering and sunning and nothing! At least it’s getting a little taller.
We’ve started a new study at church about the minor and major Old Testament prophets. Last night we began with Hosea, and the more I learn about it, the more I love it. It may be one of my favorite books of the Bible. I mean, this guy had to marry a whore named Gomer and name one of his kids “Un-loved”. You just can’t make that stuff up. And it’s such a glimpse of the Lord’s faithfulness. I was really impressed with the message last night and I’m excited to encounter more prophets.
I better get that Mother’s Day card/present in the mail soon, or else!
